    Description

ANTIQUE UNIQUE PORTRAIT OPEN SALT CELLAR DIP INDIVIDUAL NUT DISH DEMI CUP
This is a charming little round china or porcelain individual nut dish or open salt cellar sitting on a pedestal base.
It is attractively decorated on the interior with a transfer portrait of two women and has a faux artist’s signature that reads “F Boucher”.
There is also some gold stenciling over red & green backgrounds and gold beading surrounding the portrait.
On the exterior there is hand painted gold scrollwork.
The piece in my photos is the actual piece you will receive.
It is a high-quality piece of porcelain and the decoration is attractive.
Please note: There are faint “spots” showing in the photos, at least on my computer; these are from my camera and they are not on the porcelain.
Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” paragraphs below as this does have some interesting condition issues.
It has an impressed “C” mark directly in the porcelain on the underside.
I am gradually selling my salt cellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800 pieces.
This particular piece has been in my collection since 1988.
I do not see a salt of this same shape i
    n the book

by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson and I am not surprised.
If nothing else, it is unique.
A beautiful and desirable little salt or individual nut dish!
I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.
Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color.
However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.
I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer.

    Age and Condition
This piece probably dates to circa 1900-1920’s.
Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.
When I decided to sell this and began photographing it, I noticed that some of the gold scroll work on the exterior did not look quite the same as the other gold scroll work (see the last photo).
On further inspection I suddenly realized that this had at one time been a demitasse cup.
Someone had removed the handle and the porcelain had been ground smooth where the handle had been (a wonderful job) and hand painted gold scroll work was added in an attempt to hide where the handle had been.
    It worked!
It fooled me for the 33 years I have owned this piece.
Regardless, it is still a very neat, unique and interesting piece.
Otherwise, there are no chips, flea bites, cracks or hairlines to the porcelain.
The gold trim and decoration show some wear - see the photos.
I will also mention that the piece rocks slightly on a flat surface.
    P
lease keep in mind the photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.
Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
    Approximate Dimensions
This piece is about 2.625” (6.6 cm) in diameter and sits about 1.5” (3.8 cm) off the table.
    Approximate Weight
    About 1.625 ounce (48 grams).
