Czech Glass "Cracker Jack" Dog Charm on Amber Intaglio Open Salt Cellar

ITEM DESCRIPTION
Up for auction is a
Czech Glass “Cracker Jack” Dog Charm on Amber Intaglio Open Salt Cellar Dip.
These precious miniature circa 1920's Czechoslovakian glass dog charms, like the one that sits on this open salt, are thought to be originally produced as “prizes” for inclusion in Cracker Jacks snack boxes.
They were also added to some Czech novelty glass pieces such as perfume bottles, intaglio ash trays and trinket dishes.
As such, the intaglio glass piece that this dog sits on may have been designed as an ash tray or trinket dish, but because of its size and design many reside in open salt collections.
The cute little dog is a dark shade of amethyst glass and is sporting a tiny metal collar with a red bead dangling from the front.
The intaglio is made of a honey amber shade of glass and is etched with two figures, one being a small, winged child/angel who is holding a bow and the larger figure who is holding an arrow.
A tiny platform or shelf extends over the edge of the intaglio supporting the dog.
Some examples of these cute little dog intaglio open salts can be seen in The Open Salt Compendium (Plate 771) by Jzyk & Robertson, where they are noted to be scarce.
The intaglio measures 1-1/4" high to the top of the dog's head, 1-3/4” wide and 3” in length.
Both the salt and the dog are in very good condition with no chips or cracks and only a few tiny fleabites that are typically found on these cut and polished rimmed intaglios.
There is a bit of glue residue where the dog is affixed to the intaglio and is mentioned for accuracy.
