    ITEM DESCRIPTION
    Up for auction is a
    Czech Blue Opaline Art Glass Open Salt Cellar in Jeweled Brass Holder Stand.
    This beautiful and rare Czechoslovakian open salt is oval in shade, has a cut and polished rim and is made of a lovely soft cornflower blue shade of opaline glass.
    It sits in an intricately designed sturdy brass holder with four ball feet and two stylized handles that extend over the rim of the salt holding it firmly in place.
    The front and back of the holder are embellished with two large bezel set blue opaline colored cabochon Czech stones.
    Similar opaline salts in jeweled holders can be seen in The Open Salt Compendium (Plate 220) by Sandra Jzyk & Nina Robertson where they are noted to be rare.
    It measures 2-3/8” high to the top of the handles, 3-1/4” wide from handle-to-handle and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites to the salt, no bends or dents to the holder and all of the original Czech stones intact.
