The name “Chinggis Khaan” means ruler of the world in the Mongolian language. Genghis Khan, born Temujin, was truly the ruler of an immense empire.  He was a Mongol Khaan (aka “leader“), who conquered vast parts of Central Asia and northern China. Accredited with the union of many nomadic tribes, he was granted the title of «Great Khan» and therefore became the sole ruler of all Mongolians. His reign lasted from 1206 to 1227. In this era, he began the Mongol invasions and the conquest of other areas stretching to the Sea of Japan in the East and the Caspian Sea in the west. When
Genghis Khan
died in August 1227, his empire was divided between his four sons who continued extending it. Two generations later, however, the Mongol Empire broke apart after repeated and long-lasting conflicts.
The
obverse
represents the composition that consists of the Bank of Mongolia emblem and the following inscriptions: the face value of the coin, its weight and metal fineness.
Reverse
features a colored portrait of Genghis Khan executed in fine details. Mongolian culture prospered under Chinggis Khaan’s leadership, for he was both a political and military genius and an intelligent man with superior organizational abilities.  He managed to consolidate tribes into a unified Mongolia and then extend his empire across Asia to the Adriatic Sea. The name of the coin and its issuing year are also indicated on the reverse.
