Orson Welles has gone down as one of the most influential geniuses in cinema history. However, Welles was equally talented in other performance genres - who can forget his 1938 radio play "War of the World", and his stage productions were both controversial and revolutionary for the time.

This 1946 stage production has gone down in film history because of the loan Welles had to obtain from Columbia Pictures president Harry Cohn in order to purchase costumes.
Repayment of the loan led to Welles starring in one of the greatest film noir's of all time: Columbia's "The Lady from Shanghai". Orson Welles has signed the contract twice
- once on page 6 and again on page 7, both in strong black fountain pen. The contract shows folding from storage and has the usual corner wear, none of which affects either Welles signatures. A great piece of Hollywood history from one of the most influential directors of all-time.
