Up for auction is a
Summit Art Glass ~ Cambridge “Caprice” ~ Black Glass Divided Open Salt Cellar, Dip, Dish
.
This black glass two handle open salt or nut cup was made by Summit Art Glass from a mold acquired from and originally produced by the Cambridge Glass Company as part of their “Caprice” line, circa 1940's.
It appears in one of Cambridge’s catalogs as piece #93 with the description of a “2-1/2” Individual Nut Dish”.
When Summit closed in 2006 the mold was sold to the Cambridge Collectors organization.
It measures 1-1/2” high by 2-1/2” in diameter (excluding handles) and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites.
