New old stock!
Offered for your consideration is this vintage 1961 and 1962 calendar and memo pad that was a promotional item given out by the old Bayside Federal Savings and Loan Association bank that had branches in Glen Oaks, Bayside and Windsor park, New York (on Long Island). This wonderful old calendar/memo pad leatherette (plastic made to look like leather) folder measures approximately 4 1/4 inches tall by 3 inches wide. The front cover is embossed with the word "Memo" and below that in gilt lettering it reads "Bayside Federal Savings and Loan Association" followed by the branch locations and then the telephone numbers with the old exchanges: FI 7-7800 ("FI" was for "Fieldstone" which was the Glen Oaks exchange), BA 9-2700 ("BA" was for "Bayside") and HO 8-7800 ("HO" was for "Hollis"). Inside the front cover protected behind a clear plastic 'window' is a two-sided calendar - with 1961 on one side and 1962 on the other.
On the other side is a small, unused memo pad with gild top.
The calendar bears the name "Amsterdam Company, Amsterdam, NY" and a stamp saying it was printed in USA. A web search shows that the Amsterdam Printing Company still exists in Amsterdam, New York and, among other things, still prints calendars.
Bayside Federal savings and Loan was founded in 1921 and was located at 214-01 Northern Boulevard in Bayside, New York. Later branches opened on Union Turnpike in Glen Oaks, New York and in Windsor Park, NY. In 1988, the bank became Bayside Federal Savings Bank and then in 1994, it was acquired by North Fork Bank.
CONDITION:
This 59-year-old bank memorabilia has been sitting in a drawer since 1962. It was never opened (except to take photos for this listing) and never used. It is in excellent condition for its age. Please note: there are 3 or four very tiny, very light spots (barely visible) in the lower left corner of the front. Inside, the plastic window covering the calendar has crinkled with time and age. None of this affects the overall quality and appearance of this fine old bank item. banks, banking, calendar memorabilia collectibles
This would make a very nice addition to the collection of those interested in bank ephemera and memorabilia, people who collect old pocket calendars and memo pads (I know you're out there), or for someone who was from or currently lives in Glen Oaks, Bayside or Windsor Park, New York... perhaps someone who worked in or has a connection to Bayside Federal Savings and Loan. It might also be of interest to past or current employees of the Amsterdam Printing Company in Amsterdam, NY. I believe this unusual little item is harder-to-find as I could not find another one for sale on ebay or anywhere else online.
